It's not Friday, but a little early for everyone.
I don't know if anyone knows the book Island of the Blue Dolphins, but it was a book I remember reading as a kid. The book is based on a true story, and as it turns out, a researcher may have found the cave of the real life woman described in the story.
I read that! As a kid I thought it was depressing. As an adult I got acquainted a litte with the historical background, the story of what happened to the tribal people who were not hidden on an isalnd, and that's een more depressing.

My grandmother took me to see the movie, and I cried. Then I read the book, which was even better (as always) than the movie.
But as Lily pointed out, very depressing to think of how Europeans treated the Natives.

Not only did I read the book as a child, but its sitting right over there on my bookshelf, waiting for my grandkids to summon the effort to read.
