Levi Johnston is in Vanity Fair, again dishing on the Palins. Up to this point, Johnston -- fish out of water, improbable gay icon -- has been riding a modest wave of public sympathy. But the public's sympathy always peters out. So, right on cue, the backlash against against Johnston begins. And, with it, the inevitable sympathy for Sarah Palin. "Sarah Palin didn’t deserve to be vice president," writes Ruth Marcus in the Washington Post, "but she didn’t deserve this either."
Oh, please. Sarah Palin deserves exactly this. She is perpetually on the attack against seemingly everyone who crosses her path. The only reason why Sarah Palin is currently holding her fire against Johnston is that she's saving the bullets for her tell-all book. Save your tears for someone else, lady.
The media wants to make this a story. It's not. Save for one innocent baby at the center, this is a case in which there are no good guys, no sympathetic figures, and no one to root for. Johnston-Palin has no plot. It has no themes save self-indulgence and self-pity. It has no redeeming value. Move on.
(Except for Tank Jones. Dude, you're weird enough to be a story. You can stay.)
Let her crush herself. She's way better at any than anyone else could dream of being.
Trying to run her character though the mud just helps her.

Yeah. You are right. Still I find the drama gruesomely interesting.

Another von post I agree with. What is the world coming to? Levi's 15 minutes ran out a while ago. And yes, Sarah "I never lie except when I open my mouth" Palin deserves no sympathy. That whole family (extended memebrs included) is one of the most opportunistic group of people with no talent I have ever seen.
Yet, there is some degree of attraction for the whole soap opera, as wonkie states. And thanks to the media, which has yet to indicate it can cover any meaningful story in depth and accurately but is great as covering the meaningless ones, this particular soap opera will have a long life.

I like it when I agree with von. It reaffirms my faith in...something or other.
improbable gay icon
Eh--Levi's cute enough, but his ex-father-in-law is even cuter. IMHO.

There goes the Chain-Eye/Not-the-other-Palin 2012 ticket*! I think the part that hits most hard, is the claim that even Sarah's gun-toting is pure fake.
I did not read the article but got that detail from Olbermann's treatment of the same.

Look for Jerry Springer to be the host and moderator for the televised Presidential debates in 2012.

Levi has a child to support so I'm not going to knock his hustle. But even with that aside, Levi doesn't need to be maligned for doing this for the exact reasons Von says.

Sarah Palin's existence as a national figure is an absurdity that disgraces us all, and any embarrassment she suffers is poetic justice. Unfortunately she's utterly shameless, so embarrassing her is harder than it sounds.
She made her family a campaign prop, so I have no problems with one of them, the one who wasn't even part of the family, trying to make the most of it.

von, I'm really sorry I can't say this in a private mail, but I can't find it.
Is wurz79nmqp your password by any chance? Then you ought to change it, since it's been attached at the end of your post for some reason.

Thanks for looking out for me, but no. It's a Technorati tag -- not a password -- and it will be deleted shortly.

Let's not move on.
Let's let everyone know exactly what a disgusting person the 2008 GOP VP nominee is. Let's hit her supporters over the head with it, and let's make sure that doubts others had are fully substantiated.
It's not personal. It's for the good of the country.

The Tank Jones story is almost worth all of the time wasted in the media on the former governor and her family. Thanks.
