"Just to clarify, are you saying that any military conflict in the region would signal a failure for Obama's policies?"

No, the Obama admin can't control everything in the region, and so that would be unfair. It would depend on the military conflict. (PS: I have to break up my answers because typepad has a character limit with me for some reason)

"As for #3, just Iran or any of its non-state agents as well?"

Depends. If Hez and Israel got in another conflict, that would not be a casus belli for the US. If, however, one of Iran's non-state proxies used WMD on Israel, that's a different story (also an extremely unlikely scenario approacing to zero likelihood).

If you look at conservative places like Pajamas Media or National Review you see a different point of view. They seem to be arguing tactics about how to stop Iran's nukes without war. Not excuses for war. If you think Iran is an enemy, and Ahmadinejad is a buffoon, well, maybe keep him in power...

Or maybe Pipes et cetera are just depriving Ahmadinejad of talking points, like Obama is.

In point of fact, bombing to disable Iran's nuclear weapons facilities would not kill very many people at all. Certainly not thousands. Probably not hundreds. The US could do this every 3 years until Iran gets the message.

Obviously, that would be a last resort. But talk of a glass parking lot is not at all realistic; It is hysterical.

Obsidian Wings can help mobilize people all over the earth to march in solidarity with the Iranian protesters.

This will help the Iranians without helping Ahmadinejad. Will he accuse Obsidian Wings of meddling and interference?

"In point of fact, bombing to disable Iran's nuclear weapons facilities would not kill very many people at all. Certainly not thousands. Probably not hundreds. The US could do this every 3 years until Iran gets the message."

What could go wrong?

Imagine Iran bombing U.S. nuclear weapons facilities every three years or so, killing only a couple of hundred Americans each time. I'm sure we'd get the message eventually, and give up. And wouldn't do anything to Iran in return.

Because that's how these things work.

"In point of fact, bombing to disable Iran's nuclear weapons facilities would not kill very many people at all. Certainly not thousands. Probably not hundreds. The US could do this every 3 years until Iran gets the message."

Iran has deliberately situated facilities in populated areas. In addition, there are workers at the facilities themselves. There will be thousands of dead.

"But talk of a glass parking lot is not at all realistic; It is hysterical"

Tell that to Giuliani who said he would not rule out a preventitive nuke strike on Iran. Not a response, but a first strike.

"Will he accuse Obsidian Wings of meddling and interference?"

It wouldn't matter if he did because Obsidian Wings is not the President of the United States. Obama is. As such, it wouldn't be a very effective talking point for A-Jad.
