Because, really, I did mean to blog this weekend. But we went out to dinner Friday night, then there was the SCA Des(s)ert Revel (Middle Eastern theme. Most fun) last night, and I'm out the door in a moment for a cookout... well.
Talk amongst yourselves.
Am I wrong in thinking that the biggest issue for the coming election just passed without much comment.
The new changes in OT rules may strip a large number of low paid retail and manufacturing workers of their overtime pay if the companies they work for give them some minimal managerial or oversight duties and pay them at least $455 a week. I can certainly see Wal-Mart doing something like this, designating workers as managers and expecting them to work 60 hours a week for salary.
This could be a real, live pocketbook issue for a lot of people.
