Nothing earthshattering: I've got a creative deadline* looming, non-blogging creative work piling up - and to be honest most of my posts this week have been a bit of a stretch anyway. I'll no doubt be caught up by the weekend.

*Commemorative poem for my old SCA Barony. I was expecting it to be done by now. I was expecting it to be started by now.

Completely off topic, but: I come back from three weeks in New Zealand and KATHERINE IS GONE???

Barony of Carillion (East), 243... and it wasn't my idea, hilzoy, so no brickbats, 'kay? :(

Transcript of The Editors' regular Saturday-night poker game with Dick Cheney, 6/19/04. Start tape at 12:32 AM. - from The Poor Man blog.
Okay, I thought it was funny... and you take your laughs where you can get them, now Katherine's gone. (Hilzoy, you should never have gone to New Zealand... obviously it's your fault!)
Moe, good luck with your poem. I'm sure you'll do it: there is nothing like a deadline to focus the mind.

I'm a fair man: I don't agree with the Poor Man piece's core assumptions and beginning premise, but it was funny to read.
And it is to be hoped that a deadline will focus the mind. Oh, my, yes. :)

Sadly, yes. I'm still hoping that she'll find some time in the future for us.

The Poor Man bit was excellent.

I don't do brickbats, though I once was caught in the middle of (though not otherwise involved in) a riot involving large cobblestones pried out of a street and thrown at police officers. I can say this with authority now, since Moe's comment made me realize that I didn't know what a brickbat was. Now I do. (I love my OED.)
If I can figure out a way to un-go to New Zealand, will Katherine come back? I mean: it was really fun, and I saw five species of albatross at less than ten feet, and it was nifty to watch the water go down the drain in the wrong direction and all that, but still.
