Ooh! Organ! The organ is so inextricably entwined with the experience of ballgames, not using it would be like doing a Catholic mass in mime. God forbid the ballpark go the way of the NBA arena, where the powers that be apparently think that the game isn't enough; there must be constant BOOM BOOM CLAP__ BOOM BOOM CLAP __ WHO LET THE DOGS OUT / RUFF RUFFRUFFRUFF HEY HO LETSGO HEY HO LETSGO as if we're all children with ADD and overindulgent parents.
Tho' I must confess, when pitchers use something badass as their theme music (AC/DC, Deep Purple, Weird Al) I love it.
Definitely organ! Though my all time favorite organist used to (still?) plays for the NY Rangers in hockey. In-a-gadda-da-vida! Kashmir! Peaches en Regalia! 'Bout the only times I've ever heard anyone let those dogs out.
Why is everyone talking about the Canadian elections as if it were the 'liberal' Liberals and NDP vs the 'conservative' Conservatives and Bloc Quebecois?
Has anyone actually looked at the Bloc's platform? They're liberal, and French to boot. I guess it made a more interesting horse-race.
I agree wholeheartedly with Johno's comments regarding the NBA. I find it slightly insulting to have the pa system and big flashing signs tell me when I am supposed to cheer, as if I weren't actually WATCHING the game! If you trully want me to "Make some NOISE" then put a team out in the contest that performs at a level worthy of enthusiastic response.
I was a season ticket holder for my local arena football team (until they disolved the franchise this year, WHAT WILL I DO?!?!?!) and was bombarded during the most lackluster performances to yell and scream for my team, and had seen nothing to encourage me to even stay awake.
Let me be the judge of what I feel is worthy of a cheer, and stop treating me as a child
“with ADD and overindulgent parents”.
The organ at the baseball park, and ice arenas too, provides such a rich sense of history to the games….
Remember the time when the players played for the love of the game, and not the size of the contract? When the average person could still afford to go to more than 2 or three games a season? When you signed a rookie to your team and he STAYED THERE UNLESS TRADED? Ahhh yes, the good old days!
Sorry, I guess I am showing my age!
What would Brian Boitano do?

So, at baseball games what is the preference: old-school organ, taped clips of old-school organ, silence or pop/rock?
I kinda dig the organ, would appreciate some silence once-in-a-while, but loved it when Rob Nen entered a game to Smoke on the Water.*
*Although I'm less enamoured of A.J. Pierzynski's use of Sharp Dressed Man....

This image alone makes it all worthwhile; I can use this, you see. Much obliged...

And to tie it into music, Celine Dion sucks.
