Kevin's got a point, but you can shortcut nearly the entire comments section by just making a few visits to opensecrets.org.
That doesn't answer your question? Then there's no answer, only supposition. The idea that Republicans are any more or less beholden to interest groups than the Democrats are is...novel, to say the least.
