Hanukkah began tonight, it's less than a week till Christmas, and President Bush sent out his traditional Kwanzaa press release this morning. So in the spirit of the season, rather than tear into this National Review article on gay marriage--as others have done very effectively--I will instead post the heartwarming story of two penguins who love each other very much who just happen to be gay. (Via nabakov in the Crooked Timber comments).
Naturally, they live in New York City--though in the neighborhood of Coney Island, not Christopher Street. (Actually, Park Slope might be more appropriate for a sedate middle aged couple.)
And I'm off to New York too, though I probably won't see Wendell and Cass. I'll be too busy eating latkes with the in-laws, visiting the amazingly gaudy Christmas lights in Dyker Heights, decorating the tree with my family, praying for snow, etc. I forecast lighter blogging until New Year's, but last time I predicted that I was totally lying.
The Amsterdam Zoo did "gay tours" for a while, especially targetted around all the homosexual relationships in the zoo ;-)
