Okay, we haven't gotten an entry for our caption contest for a few days now, so I'm going to do some unfair, unbalanced judging. (It's for our fuzzy little mascot on the top left; I am not competent enough to re-post the full sized picture.)
The winner is....
MattK. That was the easy part; the hard part was figuring out which of his entries to choose. At first I liked Tom Clancy & his kitten Marshmallow's children's book, "Red Pause, Red Paws." Then I leaned towards this entry, since it made me think fondly of my pets growing up in Nassau County:
"Able to act with impunity, an anonymous kitten shows the unanticipated consequences of the North Shore Animal League's unilateral implementation of a 'no kill' policy."
But in the end I decided on the elegant simplicity of:
"Animal behaviorists have documented that cats left alone too much in small urban apartments can sometimes develop bad habits, such as clawing furniture, overeating, and assassination."
As for a prize, you get, um, wait a sec....
1. Kudos!
2. My suggestion that we publish the winning entry (on a page that links when you click the picture, or a link underneath that says "About our mascot.") "We" being the one of us who actually knows html.
You see, the MST3K approach works every time. Throw out a hundred jokes, and eventually someone will laugh (if only to get you to stop). ;)

Congrats, MattK. I'll come up with a page in the next day or two: would've done it last night except that I decided to try this 'sleep' thing. Wow: the world looks completely different after you've had eight hours' worth...
