Time for another weekend open thread. But the best I can offer is this take on the poor state of our infrastructure:
From a traffic report on KCBS yesterday: "Traffic on I-880, where fuel efficiency goes to die." It's a highway that hasn't expanded at all in decades. Dispite the huge growth of Silicon Valley at one end.
We have essentially stopped expanding our infrastructure. Indeed, we have gotten so accustomed to the insanity of "deferred maintenance" that we barely notice how badly what we have is degrading.
