Two questions:
First, I am presuming that that is a picture of our incumbent Chief Executive signing the flag (in which case ignorance of US law is only to be expected) - true?
Second, and slightly OT:
The "Remember personal info" checkoff on the comments box keeps forgetting my info. Any way to fix this?

Jay, is your browser set to accept cookies? The "Remember personal info" box simply sets a year-duration cookie (three, actually - one each for Name ('typepadauthor'), Email Address ('typepademail'), and URL ('typepadurl')) with your information in it.
Also, yes, that's Bush signing a flag.
von, I appreciate the irony, and you don't need to convince me - but how does this show that a flag-desecration amendment is a bad idea, other than that it's a redundant one? Am I just not thinking hard enough?

You can only "desecrate" something that is sacred -- a religious artifact. Having the God- Emperor sign it certainly is not "desecration".
I'm sure that the enabling act that specifies in detail what the new amendment means will specify that it's only "desecration" if done by a Democrat.
And yes, if that was Kerry signing a flag, the wingnuts would be all over it.

Any rule or custom pertaining to the display of the flag of the United States of America, set forth herein, may be altered, modified, or repealed, or additional rules with respect thereto may be prescribed, by the Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces of the United States, whenever he deems it to be appropriate or desirable; and any such alteration or additional rule shall be set forth in a proclamation.

Chris, thanks for the suggestion, but since I am a AOL drone, I don't have much of a choice BUT to accept cookies. Also, I don't think that's the prob since I have no problems with the personal-info on any other blog except lately (and sadly) on ObWi.

Jay, huh. Okay, drilling down: are any of the other blogs Typepad-based, that you can tell? (If you want to test, my weblog - which is a gaming blog, not a political blog - is hosted on Typepad.)
In the meantime, if you'd like, I can try to find a way to get into AOL's cookies file so you can check them out manually.

Thanks for the tip: but it's weird: It looks like I only "lose" the personal info on my office computer: I get it on my laptop at home (and on your blog, too).
Must be something on my main computer: I'll check the cookies settings.
